Each kabob will have four cubes of beef cut into 1-1/2" pieces. Each Kabob will weigh about 7 oz. Metal skewers are easy to work with and inexpensive at most stores. If you use wood skewers, soak them in water with one Tbsp. of salt for 20 minutes before using. This will keep them from burning up when cooking on the grill.

You can replace the beef with boneless skinless chicken breasts. Do not marinate chicken more than 12 hours.

Ingredients:
• 2-3 lbs – Sirloin, Round Steak, Chuck
• 6-7 wood or metal skewers – 10-12"

Directions:
1. Cut meat into 1-1/2" cubes, approximately 1-1/2 oz to 2 oz each
2. Place four cubes on each skewer.
3. Place beef skewers in marinade for approximately 15 minutes to 2 hours for cuts like tenderloin, or 6-24 hours for top sirloin, round steak or chuck. Store in refrigeration.
4. Preheat grill on medium heat.
5. Spray Smart Balance Omega 3 oil on grill.
6. Place Kabobs on grill across grill grates.
7. Cook 2-3 minutes on each side turning until all four sides have grill marks.
8. After grilling the last side, brush on reserve marinade. Flip once and sauce again.
9. Total cook time to medium temperature- approximately 12-13 minutes.

Athens woman improves health on 'Steak-Out diet'

By Karen Middleton karen@athensnews-courier.com

Life seemed to be dealing Kathy Bates a never-ending series of bad blows –– numerous serious surgeries resulting in one case in sepsis, pneumonia, blood clots and kidney failure, a hip replacement, divorce after 42 years of marriage and ongoing medical problems including arthritis and high blood pressure.

When she could no longer work at a job she enjoyed at Bryant Industrial Maintenance & Alabama Trailer Shop in Decatur, she had to go on disability.

Despondent, Kathy began to eat, and before she came to terms with her situation, she was carrying 230 pounds on her 5-foot frame. She knew she was exacerbating her medical problems through weight gain, which for her could be lethal.

“I tried several different diets, frozen dinners, and nothing worked for me,” said Kathy. “Sometimes I would order from Steak-Out.”

Kathy thought the restaurant’s chicken sandwich would be the best low-fat alternative for her, but she found the regular 7-ounce sandwich was too big and didn’t result in weight loss.

What makes Steak-Out the best?

Our food.Savor the Sizzle

All of our steaks are 100% grain-fed USDA graded American beef. That's just the way we roll. Only the best beef from the best country. So whichever cut you order, whether it's a rib-eye, sirloin steak, T-Bone or something else, you'll definitely be able to Savor the Sizzle. We also apply our fire-grilling expertise to chicken breast, shrimp and a whole lot more. Or maybe you're in the mood for a sandwich, in which case you can choose from one of our steak sandwiches, our grilled chicken sandwich or our signature cheeseburger. And if you're craving something on the lighter side, we have many delicious grilled chef salads on our menu.

Since the first day we fired up our grill, we've always held our food to the highest standards possible. That's why it's always prepared fresh daily. And why it's always fire-grilled with our special seasonings just the way you like it.

Our convenience. We understand what it's like out there today. Your schedule's demanding. You don't have time to spend hours in your kitchen preparing a full meal. But a full meal is exactly what you're craving. That's where we come in. Whether it's just for you or for you and a thousand friends, we’re the only place to turn to when you want a hot, complete meal delivered straight to your door. And we take pride in the fact that we can do that for you.

Our involvement. In the past, the relationship ended when our delivery driver left your doorstep. But recently, we’ve taken to the internet to help us facilitate more interaction – and it’s made a world of difference! With a presence on Twitter and Facebook, we’re now able to conduct polls, host mini-contests, share news and most importantly, LISTEN! Every day we get more feedback about what you like, what you could do without and what suggestions you have to improve our great brand!

It’s only been a couple of months since we’ve opened this floodgate and we’re thrilled by what we’re hearing! So far, two of our most common requests are to open additional locations and to expand our delivery areas. One gentleman even took to his personal blog to discuss the need for us to deliver to his home! And certainly, these requests haven’t gone unheard. We’d love to talk to anyone who might be interested in opening a Steak-Out franchise in their hometown.

Great Food + Your Ambiance, Delivered: 100 Times Over

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Great Food + Your Ambiance, Delivered: 100 Times Over

To Celebrate Grand Entrance into Social Media, Birmingham Steak-Out Owner to Buy First 100 Fanatics a ½ Lb Cheeseburger

BIRMINGHAM, AL – While Social Media relationships are typically reserved as virtual, Birmingham Steak-Out owner John Brewer wanted to meet his fanatics in-person. To celebrate the brand’s grand entrance into Social Media, Brewer has decided to buy his fans his favorite menu item, the juicy ½ pound cheeseburger.

“Our fans have been fanatical on Facebook – chiming in and cheerleading why they love the brand,” Brewer said. “I figured it would be fun to meet our fans in person and buy them a tasty burger.”

Beginning at 10 a.m. THIS TUESDAY (3.9.10), the first 100 fans who walk in the door at 1717 28th Ave., South, Facebook fan or not, will receive a free 1/2 lb cheeseburger. And, should they want to showcase their fun side by taking a picture for Steak-Out’s How Big Is Your Bite competition, they will get a coupon for another burger on the house.

After tasting the product, fan’s photos will be placed on the growing Facebook Fan Page (www.facebook.com/savorthesizzle).

“With our grand entrance into Social Media, what is obvious is that you can teach an established brand new tricks,” said Donald Harkleroad, Steak-Out’s CEO, who initiated the Social movement last year as a way to connect with his fans on a personalized basis. “This is just the beginning of our fun.”

Steak-Out, a brand known for its quality food delivered to businesses as well as residents, has also announced an aggressive expansion plan, strategically labeling Alabama & Texas as its focus states.

“What we have found through our Social Media interactions is that many of our fans through Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Yelp, etc. come from the great state of Alabama. We have great franchisees, great fans and great opportunity to grow throughout the state,” Harkleroad said.

Steak-Out would like to franchise at least 5 new locations within Alabama & Texas during 2010. During a tough economy, Steak-Out has succeeded in continuing its growth (including breaking into Fort Worth, Texas) over the last year by offering a concept that carries a much lower overhead than typical full service restaurants without sacrificing the quality of food.

Currently operating as a delivery and carryout restaurant, Steak-Out gives diner’s several complete meal menu options delivered to their home or office at a great price point. You can find everything from jaw-dropping steaks to mouth-watering chicken filets, all served with a side salad, a piping hot baked potato, and a fresh-baked roll.

“Just as our customers get to create their customized atmosphere while tasting premium, high quality food, our franchisees also have the ability to serve this level of product without the expensive overhead of a full service restaurant,” Harkleroad said.
